General and family medicine

A family doctor or a general practitioner is the first point of contact for a person with health concerns. Family doctors and general practitioners treat and prevent diseases, perform minor surgical procedures, refer patients for tests and analyses, perform vaccinations, care for wounds, and remove sutures. The main reasons and problems for which a family doctor or a general practitioner is consulted include acute inflammatory diseases, bone and joint diseases, monitoring of chronic diseases, renewal of prescriptions, and issuing health certificates.

You can see a family doctor or a general practitioner without a referral. Meliva's family doctors do not provide services within the contract of the Health Insurance Fund, i.e. our family doctors do not have a list. Family doctors and general practitioners provide health services to people with all sorts of health concerns, regardless of their age.

At Meliva, patients have two options to consult a family doctor or a general practitioner:

  • Face-to-face appointments, which can often be booked for the same day
  • Remote consultations in the Digital Clinic, where family doctors and general practitioners are available in real time, seven days a week and without prior arrangement
