Urological operations

Urological operations are aimed at the surgical treatment of diseases and injuries of the urinary tract (kidneys, ureters, bladder, urethra) and male reproductive organs (prostate, testicles, penis). These procedures help remove stones, tumors, correct anomalies, and alleviate functional problems, improving the patient’s health and quality of life.

When to see a specialist

  • Diseases of the testicles and scrotum: hydrocele, epididymal cysts, removal of skin changes from the scrotal skin
  • Vasectomy
  • Surgery for phimosis (narrowing of the foreskin): circumcision
  • Frenuloplasty

Common symptoms

  • Enlargement of the testicle and skin changes

This can be accompanied by discomfort during movement, stretching, and pain, but also a bothersome cosmetic problem.
  • If you have noticed pain and discomfort during erection or intercourse

This could be due to a tight foreskin or a short frenulum.
  • Unwillingness to have more children

If you are 35 years old or have at least 3 children, a vasectomy can be performed on men to prevent further pregnancies.

How to prepare for your appointment

  • Bring your ID card or another identification document.
  • Inform the doctor in advance about the use of blood-thinning medications (e.g., aspirin, Marevan, fish oil capsules), as well as allergies and other regularly taken medications, so that the doctor can advise you on taking medications. Do not stop taking your medication on your own initiative. Your treating physician will provide instructions on taking your medication or temporarily discontinuing it.
  • Before surgery performed under local anesthesia, you can eat and drink normally.
  • Before surgery performed under general anesthesia, you must not eat for 6 hours and drink for 4 hours before the planned surgery. If you have not followed these rules, the surgery may be canceled for your safety.
  • Before surgery, the surgical area will be shaved at the clinic if necessary. Do not shave the area yourself at home to reduce the risk of infection.
  • Visit the dentist – oral diseases can cause complications.
  • Before surgery, you may need to change into surgical clothing provided by the clinic.
  • Come to the surgery only when completely healthy. Inform the clinic if you have fallen ill.
