How long does an ultrasound scan take?
It usually takes about 15–30 minutes, depending on the type of scan.
Do I need a referral for an ultrasound scan?
Yes, because the scan is performed based on a medical indication.
Do I need to fast for an ultrasound scan?
Only for some scans. Preparation depends on the area being examined: for an abdominal and pelvic scan, you need to avoid eating and urinating for 2-3 hours beforehand.
