Meliva board member Tõnu Velt moves to the company’s supervisory board
Tõnu Velt, Meliva board member and head of occupational health, has decided to step back from day-to-day management and, from 1 January, continue contributing to the company as a member of its supervisory board. CEO Marja-Liisa Alop and CFO Terje Saarepuu will continue on Meliva's management board.
“I’ve worked in healthcare for more than 21 years. That’s a long time, filled with a lot of development, construction projects, lessons learned, and even a couple of economic crises — but also plenty of positive moments and excellent teamwork with great colleagues, all working toward a shared goal. I’ve watched Medicover grow into Qvalitas Arstikeskus, a company valued by Estonians and a pioneer in occupational health. The last three years have been a period of merging companies and building the new Meliva,” said Tõnu Velt.
According to Velt, he’ll remain closely connected to Meliva going forward. “I’ll stay closely involved with the company, helping see the construction of the Rävala clinic through to completion, and I’ve committed to supporting Meliva’s development with advice and effort as a member of the supervisory board,” Velt said.
Meliva Chairman of the Board Marja-Liisa Alop thanked Velt for his contribution to leading the company and for his continued support. “Tõnu Velt’s knowledge and long-standing experience in private healthcare have played an important role in shaping Meliva’s strategic decisions. His contribution to developing occupational health in Estonia is hard to overstate. I’m genuinely glad he’ll continue with us in an advisory capacity,” said Alop.
Marja-Liisa Alop, who took over leadership of Meliva last year, said the merger of Qvalitas and Unimedi has gone smoothly. “Since this autumn, we’ve fully transitioned to operating under the single Meliva brand. We’re already preparing to open our new clinic in the heart of Tallinn soon, bringing together all our services under one roof: primary care, specialist care, dental care, and occupational health. As Estonia’s largest provider of private healthcare services, our goal is to bring more choice, opportunity, and investment to healthcare,” Alop added.
