This test provides objective information about the speed, duration, and consistency of your urine flow, which helps the doctor identify problems with bladder emptying or a blockage in the urethra. The test is non-invasive and suitable for both men and women, helping to diagnose prostate diseases, urethral narrowing, bladder dysfunction, and other urination-related problems.

How to prepare for your appointment
- You must have a full bladder before the test. Drink plenty of fluids (about 0.5–1 liter of water) 1-2 hours before the test and do not urinate before the procedure.
- Inform your doctor about all medications you are taking, especially those that affect urination.
- Think about any questions you may have about the test and ask our staff before the procedure.
What to expect during your appointment
Reception and preparation
We will welcome you and explain the procedure. We will ask you to urinate into a special device (a uroflowmeter).
Urination
We will ask you to urinate as you normally and naturally would into the uroflowmeter. The device automatically measures the speed and volume of your urine flow.
Measuring residual urine
After you urinate, we will use an ultrasound to measure the amount of urine left in your bladder (residual urine). This provides information about how effectively your bladder is emptying.
End of the procedure
After you have urinated and the residual urine has been measured, the test is complete. The entire procedure is quick and painless, usually lasting only a few minutes.
Results
The urologist will analyze the data and explain the results to you.
