Rheumatologist

Rheumatology is a field of internal medicine. There are many rheumatological disorders, but the most common reasons for referring to a rheumatologist are swollen or painful joints and long-term problems with joints that do not have a clear reason.

The most common disorders treated by a rheumatologist are:

  • rheumatoid arthritis;
  • reactive arthritis;
  • ankylosing spondylitis;
  • psoriatic arthritis;
  • podagra.

A rheumatologist may conduct various procedures during the appointment:

  • joint aspiration to clarify the diagnosis and alleviate symptoms
  • joint injections for treatment purposes.
