Endocrinologist
An endocrinologist is a physician who specialises in the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of hormonal disorders. The physician will often refer patients to have blood tests and other examinations (e.g. ultrasound) done to gain a clearer understanding of the symptoms.
The most common reasons for referring to an endocrinologist are:
- diagnosis and treatment of diabetes;
- diagnosis and treatment of thyroid disorders;
- suspicion or treatment of other endocrine system disorders.
If you have diabetes, we ask you to have an overview of the medicinal products you have taken and the reason why you stopped administering them when coming to an appointment. Also be sure to bring your blood glucose monitor or results of the blood sugar monitoring that you have otherwise obtained at home.
