Surgery
Oral surgery is often the only way to relieve certain issues.
Oral surgery involves the following services:
- removal of teeth;
- removal of wisdom teeth;
- removal of cysts in the jawbone and tooth root tips;
- surgical tooth loosening for orthodontic reasons;
- frenectomy;
- removal of minor benign tumours in the mouth area along with histological examination.
The procedures are done in the dentist’s chair with local anaesthesia
In most cases, patients are referred to an oral surgeon’s appointment by a dentist, orthodontist, or family physician. The final decision on the necessity of treatment is made by the surgeon after the initial thorough examination. The procedure is done in the dentist’s chair in a sterile environment by using local anaesthesia. If necessary, the physician will stitch the wound at the end of the procedure and provide the patient with instructions for wound care. The physician will also determine the necessity of follow-up visits.
It is important to note that every surgery is accompanied by a risk of complications. We do our best to prevent them – for example, it is not safe to perform surgery on a patient with an active cold sore or who is sick (sore throat, fever, etc.) Our physicians discuss any possible risks with the patient before the surgery and are happy to answer any questions.
