Removable dentures

The benefits of removable dentures

In certain cases, removable dentures are an appropriate solution. They are mainly used if a large number of teeth are missing or the areas of missing teeth have extensive bone and soft tissue defects. Removable dentures are also often used as temporary dentures during osseointegration around implants. Sometimes the price is the determining factor for choosing removable dentures, as they are generally significantly cheaper than fixed implants.

Bugel dentures are more secure

Removable dentures are either made of plastic or a combination of metal and plastic, which are also called bugel dentures. The latter is a better option, as these dentures can be fixed more securely and they don’t cover the mouth’s mucous membrane to the same extent as fully plastic dentures.

Removable dentures need to be removed after each meal and thoroughly cleaned. Removable dentures have a shorter life than fixed dentures and you need to visit the dentist more often to have them adjusted. One of the disadvantages is a greater load on your own teeth and gums.
