Botulinum toxin injections

Botulinum toxin is a natural, purified protein used to temporarily relax the facial muscles responsible for causing lines and wrinkles. It can also be used to treat medical conditions such as hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating).

Who is this procedure recommended for?

Many patients can benefit from botulinum toxin injections. Botulinum toxin is mainly used to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles in the facial area for a more youthful look. Botulinum toxin is injected into the muscles to temporarily improve the look of moderate to severe frown lines between the eyebrows. It can also be injected into the area around the eyes to improve the look of moderate to severe crow's feet. Botulinum toxin injections are recommended from the age of 30 (in some cases, also from the age of 25). Injections for hyperhidrosis can be administered to patients aged 18 years and older.

During the procedure, a small amount (5-10 units) of botulinum toxin is injected with a fine needle into the desired area (between the eyebrows, in the forehead, around the eyes).

The procedure is generally well tolerated and does not require anesthesia. In fact, many patients have treatments during their lunch break. Botulinum toxin usually takes effect within 3-5 days. However, it can take up to two weeks for the full effects to become visible. If the desired result is not achieved in two weeks or there is a small asymmetry, it can be easily corrected and you do not have to pay extra for the correction.

The price of the first consultation is 58 euros. If the procedure is performed during the same visit, the consultation fee will be deducted from the cost of the procedure.

  • Frown lines €180
  • Horizontal forehead lines €180
  • Crow's feet €180
  • Frown lines and horizontal forehead lines €280
  • Frown lines and crow's feet €280
  • Botulinum toxin injections for hyperhidrosis €450

After the procedure, you must avoid saunas, sunbathing, alcohol and physical exertion (exercise, intensive hiking, gardening, etc.) for 48 hours. Other procedures in the treated area (laser treatments, RF, ultrasound treatments) may reduce the effect of botulinum toxin. We recommend avoiding botulinum toxin injections 2 weeks before and 2 weeks after any type of vaccination.

The procedure is always preceded by a consultation and review of the patient's history to help make a final decision on the suitability of the procedure. Contraindications to botulinum toxin treatments include the presence of infection at the proposed injection site(s) (e.g. herpes), pregnancy and breastfeeding, and a febrile illness (e.g. cold).

Does botulinum toxin have any side effects?

Although there is no recovery time associated with the procedure, it is important to note that minor bruising and swelling in the injection area may occur as a result of the injections. Anti-wrinkle injections have no long-term side effects. A very rare side effect is drooping of the eyelids and the lateral part of the eyebrows. All side effects are temporary. For symptomatic treatment, the doctor can prescribe special eye drops or relax other facial muscles. The patient will remain under the doctor's observation until the situation has improved.

What is the difference between botulinum toxin and Botox?

Today, various brands are used in aesthetic medicine – Botox, Vistabel, Dysport, Xeomin. All of them contain the same active ingredient (botulinum toxin) and Botox is just a brand name.

How long do the results last?

The effects last an average of 3-6 months and depend a lot on individual characteristics, the size of the dose and lifestyle choices. The procedure can be repeated after 4 months.
