The dental laboratory in Tallinn is located at Toompuiestee 4/Kaarli pst 10. Enter the building from Kaarli pst. We are located on the 4th floor, in the stairwell facing the Freedom Square. There is a sign "Meliva hambalaborid" on the door.

We place great emphasis on precision and harmony with the rest of the smile. We take into account the personal preferences of the dentist and the patient and rely on a symbiosis of functionality and aesthetics.
The materials and equipment we use allow us to produce dental prostheses that are very precise and fit well in the mouth.
We accept digital impressions taken with intraoral scanners. We use 3Shape and Exocad software for modelling.

Dental laboratories were established in 2010 under the name Dental Design. In 2020, the laboratory of Kaarli dental clinic joined the Dental Design laboratories. In 2021, Mehiläinen, a Finnish healthcare company with more than a hundred years of experience, acquired Unimed and the Dental Design laboratories. As of mid-October 2023, we bear the trademark "Meliva Dental Laboratories" and since March 2024 we are officially part of Meliva Ltd. In June 2024 Kuressaare Dental Laboratory was united with Meliva Dental Laboratories.

Our laboratories are located in Tallinn, Tartu, Pärnu and Kuressaare, and our team includes not only dental technicians but also model makers, CAD/CAM engineers, administrative staff and drivers. We offer fixed and removable dental prostheses and orthodontic appliances.

When sending a digital work file, please check that correct bite has been established. If necessary, please rescan immediately.

Please send the files to the e-mail address of the dental laboratory concerned, or directly to the system when using 3Shape and Medit Link. In order to send files via both programs, you must first establish a direct connection with the dental laboratory, called a partnership. Digital impressions and designs

When placing an order for the services of the dental laboratory, you first need to fill in an order form. You can download the order form here. Please fill in the order form thoroughly and legibly and send it to the dental laboratory together with your dental impression.

In order for the dental laboratory to process the order, the order form must contain the following information:

The name of the clinic, doctor and patient

The content of the work according to the type of work (type of work, material, tooth shade, implant system, stage of work, and additional information if necessary)

The desired dates for the completion of the work and/or the stages of work to be carried out

If we do not have enough information to carry out the work, it will remain on hold in the dental laboratory until we have received all the necessary information to proceed with the work. The deadline for completing the work will also be postponed by the waiting time.

The above information is also required when sending a digital impression.

Placing an order

Our ceramics department specialises in the fabrication of fixed prostheses that can be applied on both natural teeth and implants.

All-ceramic crowns, inlays, onlays, overlays and veneers

Monolithic and layered zirconia crowns and bridges

Screw-retained zirconia implant crowns and bridges (from single crowns to full-arch restorations, also with metal framework if required)

Porcelain-fused-to-metal (PFM) crowns and bridges

Screw-retained PFM implant crowns and bridges

Temporary PMMA crowns (including shell crowns)

Maryland bridges (PMMA / PMMA and metal framework / PFM / zirconia)

Implant-supported complete dentures (All-on-4) (with zirconia, PMMA or acrylic teeth)

For more extensive restorations, we will fabricate a prototype prosthesis to provide the patient with an idea of the expected final result.

In the fixed prostheses department, we use a wide range of materials from which we can fabricate the most suitable piece according to your and the patient's needs.

Fixed dental prostheses

In the orthodontics department, we prepare both fixed and removable orthodontic appliances, as well as aligners and splints, according to the treatment plan drawn up by the doctors.

Thanks to our long experience of working with orthodontists, we are able to carry out even the most complex work.

Orthodontic appliances

When scheduling patient's visits and submitting work to the dental laboratory, please take into account the minimum deadlines for completion of the work.

If we do not have enough information to carry out the work, it will remain on hold in the dental laboratory until we have received all the necessary information from the doctor to proceed with the work. The deadline for completing the work will also be postponed by the waiting time.

If the doctor works in more than one clinic, it is very important to indicate the clinic to which the work should be sent.

Work completion time in the laboratory is the time taken to complete the work, plus the time taken for fittings.

Deadlines

Correct handling of impressions reduces the risk of distortion and increases quality

Impressions must be taken with a proper size tray so that all the areas that need to be impressed are covered.

After removing the impression from the mouth, make sure that it is not bitten through, that there are no inaccuracies, or that the impression material has not come loose from the tray After an intraoral scan, also check the impression file. If necessary, take a new impression immediately.

Follow the manufacturer's instructions when handling the impression material.

Impressions must be taken with a tray of sturdy material. Using a soft flexible tray can result in an inaccurate model and thus an inaccurate final product.

All impressions sent to the laboratory must be cleaned of blood, saliva, food residues and adhesive. They must also be disinfected.

Impressions must be packaged as follows: 
- alginate impressions must be wrapped in a damp napkin and placed in a plastic bag or other moisture-proof packaging;
- the additional elements (bands, transfer posts, etc.) accompanying the impression must be placed in a separate sealable packaging.

For fixed dental prostheses, please include the correct bite registration.

For implant impressions:
- the registration must be taken from the sulcus formers and the sulcus formers must be placed in a separate package with the corresponding position in the mouth marked on the package;
- the transfers used must be without defects. If different transfers are used, please indicate the type/codes of the transfers used.
- the transfers must be correctly encased in silicone and must not loosen inside the impression;
- a double quantity of analogs must be included with the impression so that control models can be cast.

For front and wax-up work, an impression/model of the initial situation must be included and portrait images of the patient must be sent by e-mail or memory stick.

Requirements for taking impressions

The removable prostheses department specialises in the fabrication of acrylic partial and complete dentures as well as cast metal partial dentures to restore partially or completely missing teeth. We use acrylic teeth available in different price ranges, from which you can choose the colour, shape and size that best suits the patient.

The first preparatory stage of various prostheses is completed in the model or CAD/CAM departments.

We place great emphasis on the accuracy of the impression and the preparation of the model, so that the next steps are as accurate as possible.
