Dentures
Dentures restore your smile
Prosthetics is a branch of dental care which is specialised in the replacement of dental tissue or teeth destroyed due to tooth decay, trauma, or gum disease.
There are three types of dentures: removable, fixed, and combined dentures. The purpose of dentures is to restore the function and aesthetics of teeth.
Treatment begins with a general oral health check
The achievement of a brilliant smile starts with a general oral health check which may require the involvement of several specialists. The main issues are tooth decay and infections under the roots of teeth. Gum and jaw health is equally important, as gums frame the teeth, helping to keep them in the desired position in the jaw. There is no point in discussing aesthetics if the health and function of tissues in the mouth are poor.
The emphasis is on preparation
Prosthetic treatment begins with a consultation where important information is gathered and necessary examinations are carried out (impressions and photos are made, etc.) The dentist will draw up the preliminary treatment plan based on the information received. Modern dental lab software programs enable to change the shape of dentures according to the patient’s wishes before the work is completed. This allows the patient to actually test whether the new shape of their teeth suits them beforehand. Putting dentures in is generally the last stage of prosthetic treatment.
Long-lasting results of prosthetic treatment are achieved through proper oral hygiene, visiting the dental hygienist annually, and having the teeth checked regularly.
