Prosthesis Repair

For the Patient

If a removable denture develops a crack or fracture, do not attempt to repair it yourself or continue wearing it. Instead, contact your dentist.

If the denture becomes loose in your mouth, also contact your dentist. Do not attempt to adjust the denture or bend the clasps yourself.

Before bringing the denture in for repair, clean it of food residues and denture adhesive.

If plaque has formed on the denture, take it to your dentist for cleaning.

For the Doctor

When taking impressions for denture repairs, please ensure that:

  • The denture has not shifted or lifted out of the impression.
  • When adding teeth, an antagonist impression has also been taken, wax registration if necessary, and the tooth shade has been specified.

When sending dentures for repair or remake, please clean them of food residues and denture adhesive, and disinfect both the dentures and the impressions.

In case of a denture fracture, ensure before sending it to the laboratory that the patient has not attempted to repair or glue the denture themselves, and that the parts of the denture fit together properly.
